Secret (Loki Rmx)/Psych

After the stunning label compilation recently released, Blokhe4d and their burgeoning Bad Taste imprint continue to move forward and build upon their already very accomplished discography. BT014 brings yet another electrifying release that sees the label once again not adhearing to rules and regulations as they deliver a stunning remix from a previous Bad Taste contributor Loki of a Brighton based indie band by the name of Sparrow.

Intro’ing with sparse breaks and eerie atmospherics it’s not long before ‘Secret’ gives way to a beautifully fragile vocal from the Sparrow frontman intertwined with the soul-searching synth of Loki that gets ready to launch us into an enveloping journey of blissed out D&B with a techy edge. As the tracks develops, the bass splits and morphs but always returns to the captivating melancholy vocals and warm chord progressions that show Loki to be a serious production force for the future.

Moving on and we’re treated to some original Loki in the form of ‘Psych’, an antagonistic slice of D&B nastiness that’s ready to burn up a dance floor near you soon. More deep intros abound but then a drop into a nerve-shattering ride of slamming breaks and full-force bass that twists and thumps its way all the way along. Wait for the switch mid-way too, ouch!
