It’s been a busy year so far in the Critical camp with some superb releases all garnering praise from those
who know. Break’s remix of ‘Alibi’ by Spectrasoul was an awesome moment in Critical’s history and
coupled with the naughty ‘Organiser’ on the flip proved one the best D&B 12’s so far this year. Then,
always with an ear to the ground label boss Kasra roped in the talents of dubstep and downbeat new boy
on the block Ramadanman to remix ‘Organiser’ for a strictly limited vinyl release which saw the labels
more experimental side shining in abundance. Sabre proceded to bring us the masterful ‘Original Sin’
featuring the vocal talents of Tuere and with radio play from 1xtra’s Bailey and the BBC’s Nerm it served as
a sweet taster for Sabre’s forthcoming album due at the end of the year on Critical. Sabre recently visited
the BBC studios for a mix and a chat on the Electro East show, check it out here
www.bbc.co.uk/asiannetwork/electroeast/.
About to drop at the end of July will then be Serum Vs Vapour ‘Live & Direct’ b/w ‘True Calling’ – both
sides giving the speakers a heavy drum workout that never fails to please. Expect some more Serum /
Critical projects in the future, definitely one to watch!
The new Critical Sound compilation album is almost complete and has been pencilled for a September
2009 release date. With the vinyl featuring Calibre, Break, Rockwell, Sabre, Jubei, Illskillz, Spectrasoul
and Serum & Bladerunner it looks set to take the standards set by previous Critical compilations even
higher! Look out for Technicolour, Stray and Ramadanman all featuring on the CD format too.
Add to all this the mouth-watering possibility of a Critical event in London and the fact that Kasra has just
finished his own solo production and we’re in no doubt that the Critical snowball is well and truly rolling.
