Set up back in 2007 Section8 Records has developed a penchant for proper dance floor D&B and dubstep
as standard, releasing a multitude of top draw music from an array of new and exciting producers. Here
they return with yet another tough slab of hard-hitting goodness; it’s America Vs Germany as Portland’s
SPL takes on Berlin’s Current Value for a match not to be missed!
Taking the honours and heading up the release is SPL with his awesome take on ‘Shy Flame’, twisting it
into a nasty piece of synthetic filth that’s bound to cause maximum damage in the club. Intro’ing with
heavily filtered vocals that float in the mix of drifting pads it’s not long before the stabbing church-like
synth builds us up for the drop of bassline murder! Pummelling subs double down as SPL draws us deep
into the journey for a huge piece of dubstep which aims to please. Wait for the middle section switch and
it’s all over!
Moving on to Current Value’s orginial ‘Shy Flame’ featuring his favoured vocalist Snow and it’s a very
different story; a drum & bass story to be exact. Opening with a light stepping break, Snow’s vocals begin
to wash over the arrangement as we assume the position. It’s then a soft drop into the full on break and
the square wave b-line that leads the way as the track develops gradually into a full-on piece of big-room
rave. Double kicks keep things rolling to the end as the dreaming pads envelope the mix. Quality gear.
