Moving Fusion first exploded onto the scene back in 1998 with what remains one of the few truly classic tracks in drum and bass, ’Turbulence’. Snapped up immediately by Andy C for release on Ram Records, it’s a seminal piece of work that still gets rinsed today in its original form in DJ sets around the world. Picking up Mixmag’s ’Tune Of the Year’ award, it marked the start of Moving Fusion’s love affair with the music and earned them a permanent position amongst the Ram Records family and in the hearts of many a hardened clubber.
Following up on such a storming first release was no easy task but after many hours spent in the studio the duo of Jeff Langton and Dan Sparham came back hard with a slew of yet more era-defining releases. ’The Beginning EP’, ’Atlantis EP’ and ’Thunderball’ were all massive moments for Ram Records and armys of Moving Fusion fans were forming around the globe ready to go crazy as their burgeoning DJ schedule gradually grew to the point where they were even being booked for two week tours of Australia.
With their regular sets at Ram’s own events at London’s legendary End nightclub the pace really began to build for Jeff and Dan and in 2002 they released their debut album, ’The Start Of Something’, which featured more signature dance floor moves like ’Guy Fawkes’, ’Star Sign’ and ’Party People’. More releases followed over the years on Ram, True Playaz, Infrared and Viper but in 2006 the pair decided to take a break and go solo with Jeff setting up his own Drum Culture imprint and Dan his own Terrafunk label with him taking a new production/DJ name, Sparfunk.
A run of releases followed on Drum Culture up to 2007 when Jeff started to branch out into teaching his studio wizardry to pupils at music tech college. Late last year in 2009, however, the flame was reignited as he got together with old label mates Shimon and Ant Miles for a release on Shimon’s Audioporn label entitled ’Pimp Slap’. Since then the Moving Fusion name has started to grow once more and a whole host of exciting projects are in the pipeline for 2010 including the re-launch of the Liftin’ Spirit label with Ram’s Ant Miles. With releases lined up for Viper, Audioporn and a forthcoming remix of Matrix & Futurebound’s massive ’Universal Truth’ these are yet more exciting times for Jeff Moving Fusion. He’s even back in the studio with Dan Sparfunk to try and re-create that classic Moving Fusion magic which is sure to delight ravers all over the world.
So as the takeover commences be sure to catch a Moving Fusion DJ set soon as he’s sure to have a barrage of new refreshed and invigorated beats in the box to get the dance floors shouting for the rewind. Be warned, the old guard is well and truly back on parade.
